Becoming a model in Morocco: what agencies look for
Emporio Models Marrakech

Many people in Morocco dream of modelling but don’t know where to start, or worry they need a portfolio, connections or money to get in. You don’t. What an agency looks for is simpler and more specific than most people think. This guide explains what agencies like Emporio Models Marrakech look at when they review an application, and how to give yourself the best chance.
Modelling in Morocco today
Marrakech has become a regular destination for fashion editorials, lookbooks, hotel campaigns and brand content, and productions shooting here need models on set. That creates work for two groups: Moroccan models based in the country, and international models who come to the city for a period. Both are represented on our women and men boards.
Modelling covers very different kinds of work. High fashion and runway are the most selective. Commercial work, such as e-commerce, advertising, hospitality and lifestyle content, is open to a much wider range of looks, ages and body types. Knowing which side suits you helps you understand an agency’s answer.
What agencies look for
A face and presence that photographs well
Agencies look for faces that the camera loves: strong or distinctive features, good skin, and above all something memorable. “Beautiful” in the everyday sense is not the only criterion. Distinctive, unusual or very natural faces often do well in fashion.
Proportions and measurements
Measurements matter because clients book models to fit sample sizes and specific briefs. Height is especially important for runway and high fashion, where women are often around 1.72 to 1.80 m and men around 1.83 to 1.90 m. For commercial work, the range is broader. These are industry tendencies, not fixed rules, and our application doesn’t list a fixed minimum. What matters is that you give your real measurements.
Honest, recent photos
Agencies don’t need a professional portfolio from a new face. They need clear, recent, unretouched digitals that show how you look today. Heavily edited photos are one of the most common reasons an application goes nowhere. Our guide explains how to take model digitals at home.
Personality and professionalism
Clients book people, not only pictures. Being punctual, reachable and easy to work with on set matters as much as your look, and a short introduction video helps an agency see your personality and how you move.

Age and experience
No experience is needed to apply. Many models start with nothing more than a set of digitals. Our current board focuses on adult women and men. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian should contact the agency before you apply, and any work should always be organised with them.
How to apply to Emporio Models Marrakech
The application is online, on our Be a Model page. You will be asked for:
- Your details: name, gender, date of birth, nationality, current location and contact details (email, phone or WhatsApp, Instagram).
- Your measurements: height, bust or chest, waist, hips, shoe size, eye and hair colour, hair length, and clothing sizes.
- Four digitals: front, profile, full length and smile.
- Optional links: an existing book, more digitals, and short videos: introduce yourself, height verification, runway and posing.
- Your representation: whether you are already signed with a mother agency.
Our team reviews every application. If your profile fits what we are looking for, we will contact you to talk about the next steps.
Applying is free
Applying to Emporio Models Marrakech through our website is free. As a general rule, be careful with anyone who asks you to pay before they will consider you, or who pressures you to buy an expensive photo package on the spot. A genuine agency will judge you on simple digitals. If someone contacts you in the name of Emporio Models Marrakech and asks for money, check with us first through the official contacts on this website.
Staying safe
- Check that an agency has a real website, a public presence and contact details you can verify.
- Never send intimate photos. Agencies don’t ask for them; swimwear digitals are optional.
- Go to meetings and castings in professional settings, and tell someone you trust where you are going.
- Read any contract carefully before you sign, and take the time to ask questions.
Mother agency, local agency: what does it mean?
A mother agency is the agency that discovers and develops a model and manages their career, often placing them with other agencies in other cities or countries. A local agency represents the model in its own market. Emporio Models Marrakech is the Marrakech agency of Emporio Models, and our application asks whether you already have a mother agency so we can take your current representation into account.
How to prepare while you wait
- Keep your digitals and measurements up to date.
- Look after your skin, hair and health, without extreme diets.
- Practise walking and posing naturally, and film yourself to see what works.
- Study professional books on agency boards to understand what clients see.
- Keep your Instagram tidy, since agencies and clients often look at it.
If you don’t hear back straight away
An agency’s needs change with the season, the clients in town and the profiles already on its board, so an application that doesn’t fit today may fit later. It is not a judgement on your worth. Keep working on your digitals, your walk and your confidence, update your measurements, and when your look or situation changes, it can be worth applying again with fresh photos.
Your next step
If you are ready, prepare your four digitals and apply on our Be a Model page. If you have a question first, read our FAQ or contact us.
